Your fingerprints are captured, quality-checked on the spot, and transmitted electronically to the RCMP's Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services in Ottawa.
Two things follow from that. First, there's nothing for you to carry or mail — the submission has already gone by the time you leave. Second, because the scanner rejects a smudged print before it's accepted, a digital submission almost never comes back for poor quality, which is the single most common reason an ink card gets returned.

Two valid government-issued photo IDs, plus any request letter from your employer, IRCC, or the body asking for the check. Walk in during business hours — free parking on site.
An RCMP-accredited technician captures your prints on certified LiveScan equipment, quality-checks each one, and transmits the submission electronically to the RCMP. About 10–15 minutes.
Results are issued by the RCMP — typically in days — to you or to the organization you nominated on the submission. Nothing to mail, nothing to chase.
